braking, pneumatic crane, cantilever gantry

braking, pneumatic: by use of compressed gas, this method controls or reduces speed.

cantilever frame: used to support the trolley of a wall crane, this is considered a structural member.

cab, normal: used for taking control of a cab-operated crane, this is the compartment of the operator.

control panel: an assembly of components, such as, static, magnetic,  pneumatic, hydraulic, and more, that controls power flow to or from a motor or other equipment in response to a push-button station, master switch, automatic program, remote control, or another similar device’s signaling.

braking, service: during normal operation, this method decelerates crane motion.

crane, cab operated: these cranes use the controllers located in a cab, controlled by a crane operator, that is connected to the crane to control the movements of the crane

cab: used for taking control of a crane, this is the compartment of the operator

controller, manual: a controller that has its basic functions performed by devices that are hand operated.

bridge: a crane part that is made up of, end ties, trucks, foot walks, one or more girders, as well as the part which is used to carry the trolley or, in some cases, trolleys, known as the drive mechanism.

cab, skeleton: often used for the rare operation of a normally floor- or remote-operated crane from the cab, this is the compartment of the operator.

bumper (buffer): when a moving trolley or crane reaches the end of its allowed travel, or when two moving trolleys or cranes come into contact, this device is used to reduce impact. This is often connected to the trolley, runway stop or bridge.

clearance: distance between the nearest obstruction to any part of the crane.

collectors, current: used to collect current from bridge or runway conductors, these are contacting devices.

conductors, bridge: often located along the bridge structure of a crane, these devices are electrical conductors that transmit power and control signals to the trolley or trolleys.

conductors, runway (main): often located along a crane runway, these electrical conductors transmit power as well as control signals to the crane.

controller: used to govern, in a predetermined manner, the power delivered directly to the apparatus to which it is connected, this can be a device or group of devices.

braking, regenerative: a method where the electrical energy generated by the motor is fed back into the power system, thus allowing control or reduction of speed.

controller spring return: upon release, this controller will automatically return to a neutral, off, position.

bridge travel: this occurs when a crane moves parallel to the crane runway.

crane, automatic: this crane works through a preset cycle or cycles once started.

crane: designed for lowering and lifting a load as well as moving a load horizontally, this machine, has a hoisting mechanism that is the essential part of the machine.

crane, cantilever gantry: a semigantry or gantry crane in which the trusses or bridge girders transversely reach past the crane runway on both or one side(s).
